Yard Engineer

Location: Southampton (Eastleigh)
Salary: £26,750 – £32,680
Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We’re looking for a Yard Engineer to join a busy power equipment depot, supporting the preparation, testing and repair of generator sets. This is a mainly yard-based role with occasional customer site visits.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and service generators for the hire fleet
Repair generators on-site as required
Assist with loading/unloading equipment in the yard
Drive forklifts in the yard (training provided if required)
Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using company vehicles
Participate in the on-call rota as needed
Synchronise generators on site when required
Maintain safe, tidy workspaces and comply with Health & Safety standards
Follow ISO 9001 procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Skills & Experience:

Qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ, or equivalent)
OR completed apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
OR proven experience servicing diesel generators or maintaining plant machinery
Strong fault-finding and communication skills
Forklift licence preferred
