Multiskilled Handyperson/Projects Operative

On-Site Project Assistant / Multiskilled Handyperson required in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire to work as part of a busy projects team. Salary: £28,000 per annum, Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:30 (flexibility required), Contract: Permanent, Location: Cheltenham-based with extensive travel (approx. 80% UK, 20% overseas – mainly Europe).

Pertemps are recruiting for an On-Site Project Assistant / Multiskilled Handyperson to join a well-established and growing organisation operating on projects across the UK and overseas. This is a hands-on, site-based role offering variety, travel, and strong long-term development opportunities.
This position would suit a practical individual who enjoys problem-solving, working with their hands, and supporting projects in fast-paced, changing environments.

Key Duties

• Working on site to support project delivery across multiple locations
• Carrying out repairs, refurbishment, and general maintenance works
• Completing tasks such as carpentry, basic plumbing, flooring, painting, and general repairs
• Ensuring all work areas, units, and structures are safe, functional, and completed to a high standard
• Supporting the movement, setup, and preparation of equipment and site assets
• Working flexibly to meet project demands, including early starts, late finishes, and occasional overnight stays
• Travelling extensively across the UK and occasionally overseas to support projects

What We’re Looking For

• Proven hands-on experience in at least one trade (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, roofing, flooring, painting or similar)
• A strong multiskilled background or willingness to develop across multiple disciplines
• A proactive, can-do attitude with strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
• Calm, flexible, and focused approach in busy or changing environments
• Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work

Essentials

• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel extensively across the UK and overseas
• Basic computer literacy
• Professional, tidy, and safety-conscious approach on site
