Financial Controller

Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a growing business. This is a key senior role responsible for ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making across projects.
 
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure strong financial governance, effective cashflow management, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
• Ensure timely and accurate year-end statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
• Maintain strong balance sheet control, including reconciliations and working capital management
• Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
• Prepare and manage detailed cashflow forecasts
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
• Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting

 
Skills & Experience Required

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role
• Excellent cashflow management and commercial finance skills
• Confident user of accounting systems and advanced Excel
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
• Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
