Sheridan Maine is delighted to be supporting a well-established, family-run accountancy practice in Essex in their search for a Senior Practice Accountant. Main tasks handled by a Senior Practice Accountant:

• Manage an end-to-end portfolio of clients, including bookkeeping, VAT, management accounts, statutory accounts, and tax.
• Prepare year-end accounts and corporation tax computations.
• Act as a key point of contact for clients, offering clear and practical advice.
• Support and mentor junior team members, helping them develop skills and confidence.
• Oversee client onboarding and ensure seamless transitions for new clients.
• Work from both the home-based office in Bishop’s Stortford and occasional client sites.
• Collaborate with the wider team to deliver a consistent, high-quality service.
• Contribute ideas, improvements, and participate in occasional local networking events.

What makes a Senior Practice Accountant effective:

• Fully qualified accountant (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong proficiency with cloud accounting software.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confident working directly with clients and attending local business events.
• Organised, reliable, and comfortable working independently.
• Enjoys mentoring junior staff and contributing to a positive, collaborative culture.
