We have a fantastic opportunity at Thames Water where you will be part of a team responding to the Environment Agency (EA) across a variety of communication mediums. This high-profile role will involve working with our legal team at Eversheds Sutherland and the Environment Agency. As a result, you will gain exposure across the business at all levels and can contribute towards the company's wider environmental function.
What you’ll be doing as a Regulatory Information SpecialistIn this role, you will critically review the Team’s Advisors' draft correspondence to EA as part of their ongoing criminal investigations into TWUL pollution and non-compliance incidents. You will support the Team’s Advisors in their workstreams and overall development in their role by providing coaching following your review of their work. As such, you will be confident to lead and act as the Team’s Manager delegate.
- You will work closely with the Team’s Manager to address any identified continuous improvement and development needs.
- You will assist with the management of and contribute to our response to the regulator to ensure they are factually correct and demonstrate our commitment as environmental guardians via a critical review of the Advisor's draft response. Overseeing adherence to deadlines.
- You will lead on high-profile regulatory submissions such as Compliance Assessment Report (CAR), Schedule 5 Part B and contribute to the mitigation of enforcement risk.
- You will also contribute to our continuous improvement of processes through review, audit and development of team procedures.
- Work closely with the Manager to share responsibility of attending stakeholder meetings and support Advisors to chair and facilitate internal meetings.

This position will be working hybrid, 1-2 days a week from our office in Reading, RG1 8DB. The salary for this position is £52,050 dependant on experience. Ability to travel to sites across our entire Thames Water area for training and team building. The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is: - Be educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and coach Environmental Legislation and Regulation, the Environment Agency’s Guidance such as and Compliance Classification Scheme (CCS).
- Experience of working within an Environmental Compliance, risk and assurance or audit capacity is essential.
- Ability to project manage and work under your own initiative whilst managing your workload by prioritising it effectively with a level of commitment, ensuring both individual and team deadlines are achieved.
- Confident in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to produce reports, incident reviews and interpret data, and communicate this verbally as well as written.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel) and SharePoint is essential.
- Experience of reviewing submissions as the final stage of assurance.
- Able to act a delegate in Manager’s absence.
- Good level of professional writing skills.
Extra qualities that would be a great fit for our team: - Relevant experience in an applicable sector, operational role, technical position or knowledge of wastewater and/or clean water processes.
- Previous experience of working with legal privilege would be advantageous.
