A supportive and inclusive SEN school in the Swanley area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, and language & communication difficulties. Skilled use of Makaton is essential for this role.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs
- Use Makaton to support communication and engagement
- Assist pupils with ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, and speech/language difficulties in accessing the curriculum
- Implement behaviour strategies and structured routines
- Support social, emotional, and communication development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider SEN team
- Help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Experience with ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, and language/communication needs
- Confident using Makaton
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive approach
- Understanding of behaviour strategies and communication support
- Ability to build strong, consistent relationships with pupils
- Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
- Competitive daily rate of £105–£120
