Job Description

Job Title: SEN Teacher (SEMH – PRU) 📍 Location: East London
💷 Salary: MPS/UPS – Paid to Scale
🕒 Contract: Full-time (Permanent or Long-term)
We are looking to appoint a skilled and resilient SEN Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in East London, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex backgrounds. This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who thrives in a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
The Role:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to small classes of pupils with SEMH needs
  • Teach across core subjects (or your subject specialism) at KS3–KS4
  • Implement consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
  • Track progress against EHCPs, Individual Behaviour Plans, and reintegration targets
  • Work collaboratively with LSAs, behaviour mentors, pastoral staff, and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience working in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEMH setting (essential or highly desirable)
  • Strong classroom presence with a calm, consistent approach
  • Excellent understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding
  • The ability to motivate and re-engage vulnerable learners
