Teaching Assistant – SEMH – Primary – Walsall An SEMH school in Walsall is looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join their team, supporting primary-aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is committed to helping pupils develop positive behaviours, build confidence, and re-engage with their learning.
As a Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will work closely with the class teacher to provide both whole-class and 1:1 support. You will help pupils regulate their emotions, access the curriculum, and develop social and life skills in a nurturing and structured environment.
Job Role:- Supporting primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to help pupils manage their emotions and engage in lessons.
- Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering creative, engaging activities.
- Using behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and learning.
- Building trusting relationships with pupils to encourage personal and academic growth.
Requirements:- Previous experience working with children, ideally in an SEMH or SEND setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children and improving outcomes.
