Maths Teacher – SEMH School – South Birmingham
Are you a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher who is committed to helping students rediscover a love for learning? We are working with a specialist SEMH school in South Birmingham that is seeking a Maths Teacher to teach small groups of students who thrive in a calm, structured, and nurturing environment.

As a Maths Teacher in this setting, you will work with classes of no more than eight students, supported by an experienced teaching assistant and a strong pastoral team. The school has an excellent reputation for transforming the lives of young people who have struggled in mainstream education, providing outstanding support and a sense of belonging.

Job Role:

• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons for small groups of Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.
• Create a positive and calm learning environment that promotes confidence and progress.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students and use effective de-escalation and engagement strategies.
• Work closely with teaching assistants, mentors, and the pastoral team to ensure holistic support.
• Track and celebrate student progress, both academically and emotionally.
• Contribute to a culture where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success.

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
• Experience working with students who have SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
• Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills.
• A patient, flexible, and compassionate approach to teaching.
• Commitment to supporting students’ wellbeing alongside academic progress.
