What you’ll do: Deliver tightly focused maths support through 1:1 tutoring and small-group boosters. You’ll revisit key ideas (fractions/ratio, algebraic manipulation, geometry, data handling), model worked examples, and build fluency through retrieval and spaced practice. Expect to prep lean resources, track quick wins, and feed back next steps to class teachers so intervention dovetails with lessons.
Who you are: A clear, methodical communicator who can break problems into digestible steps. You keep sessions brisk and purposeful, use misconceptions as teaching moments, and balance reassurance with stretch.
Requirements- Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
- Communication – Precise verbal and written explanations.
- Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
- Desire to work in education/with children – Motivated to raise attainment and build confidence.
- Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
The School: This ‘Good’ Edgbaston secondary serves a diverse community and runs calm, purposeful classrooms under a clear behaviour framework. Maths is well led: curriculum maps sequence small steps, interleaving and regular low-stakes checks; pupils see multiple representations (concrete–pictorial–abstract) and consistent methods across classes. Intervention time is protected, with access to past-paper item banks, model solutions, and diagnostic quizzes so you’re never starting from scratch. You’ll receive a structured induction, fortnightly coaching with actionable targets, and ready-made revision assets—ideal conditions to make rapid impact and build evidence for ITT.
