The Role
We are seeking a passionate and creative Design Technology Teacher, specialising in Food Technology, to join a Good-rated secondary school in Birmingham from October 2025. This full-time, long-term role offers the opportunity to deliver engaging and practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop confidence and skill in food preparation, nutrition, and design principles.
You will take on full teaching responsibilities — planning, delivering, and assessing a varied and practical curriculum that encourages creativity, independence, and understanding of healthy lifestyles. Collaboration with the wider DT team is central to maintaining the school’s reputation for innovative and hands-on learning.
 
The Candidate
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who can bring Food Technology to life in the classroom. The ideal candidate will be:

• A qualified teacher with QTS (applications from ECTs are warmly welcomed)
• Experienced in delivering Food Technology at KS3 and KS4
• Confident managing a practical classroom and promoting safe food preparation practices
• Committed to fostering creativity, independence, and problem-solving skills
• A team player who contributes positively to the wider DT department
