Salary: PAYE: £29.24 per hour | Umbrella: £38.43 per hour

Are you a compassionate and skilled Registered Social Worker looking to make a difference for children and families? NRW People is excited to offer a temporary role with Monmouthshire County Council, based at County Hall in Usk. Starting 27 October 2025, this 40-week position provides family leave cover, offering a chance to support the Family Support & Protection Team across south Monmouthshire (e.g., Chepstow, Caldicot, Magor).

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct assessments and develop outcome-focused plans to improve the welfare of children and young people, ensuring protection from neglect and abuse.
• Manage a caseload of complex cases, including Child Protection, private/public law, and adoption processes where applicable.
• Collaborate with multi-agency partners to reduce risks, presenting evidence in formal meetings and court proceedings.
• Build relationships with children, families, and carers, completing quality assessments and implementing plans to enhance resilience.
• Work flexibly across Usk and south Monmouthshire, contributing to a friendly and supportive team environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• A qualified Social Worker, registered with the Care Council for Wales, with experience in child protection and statutory interventions.
• Strong assessment, planning, and communication skills, with confidence in court presentations and multi-agency collaboration.
• Ability to work full-time (37 hours) and travel easily to Chepstow, Caldicot, and Magor (must live within 1 hour of NP15 1GA).
