Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm, Friday 9am–4:30pm)
Salary: PAYE: £13.69 per hour | Umbrella: £17.41 per hour

Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a Business Support Assistant to join Monmouthshire County Council’s Children’s Services Team in Usk for a 20-week temporary assignment. This is a varied, rewarding role supporting Social Work teams in delivering essential services to children and families across the county.
With a combination of office-based and agile working, this position is ideal for someone with strong administrative experience, attention to detail, and excellent IT skills who thrives in a busy, collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide responsive, high-quality administrative support to Children’s Services teams.
  • Manage correspondence, safeguarding referrals, and information requests with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update electronic records and databases, ensuring data integrity during system transitions.
  • Handle tasks such as photocopying, scanning, room bookings, and minute-taking for meetings.
  • Support financial processes including petty cash handling and monitoring expenditure.
  • Assist with recruitment and HR-related administrative tasks.
  • Act as a first point of contact for incoming calls and enquiries, ensuring clear communication and excellent customer service.
  • Support digital systems (e.g., PLANT) — creating, maintaining, and closing case files in line with statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement through feedback and proactive problem-solving.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in administration or customer service (public sector or social care desirable).
  • Strong IT and data management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, reliable team player with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a busy environment.
  • Must live within 30 minutes’ drive of Usk for office-based days.

Essential Requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Two years’ references/work history.
  • Enhanced DBS check (Children’s and Barred List).
  • Confidentiality Agreement and Criminal Convictions Declaration.
