About the RoleNetwork Recruitment Wales is seeking two reliable and experienced
Refuse Drivers (Grade 4) to join the Waste & Cleansing Collections team in Newport. This temporary 40-week assignment has arisen to provide annual leave cover and to support increased operational demand.
Please note:
Garden waste collections resume on 2 March 2026, and successful candidates will be required
from the week commencing 23 February 2026 to complete essential training ahead of service resumption.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and sustainable communities.
What You’ll Do- Drive refuse collection vehicles safely and in accordance with road traffic legislation and council policies.
- Carry out scheduled waste, recycling, and garden waste collections efficiently across designated routes.
- Work as part of a crew to ensure collections are completed on time and to required service standards.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, adhering to risk assessments and safe working practices.
- Represent the service professionally when interacting with members of the public.
What We’re Looking For- A valid UK driving licence suitable for refuse collection vehicles.
- Experience in refuse collection, waste services, or a similar operational driving role is desirable.
- A strong understanding of health & safety in a manual and driving-based environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to meet service needs.
Essential Requirements- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Criminal Convictions Declaration.
- Current CV.
- Minimum 2 years’ references/work history.
- Valid UK Driving Licence.
